Absence from school due to illness

What to do if your child is ill

It is school policy that you should inform the school office if your child is unwell and unable to come to school. A phone call should be made to the school office before 9am on each day of your child’s absence.

If we do not hear from you, we will contact you to ascertain the reason. If we are not informed of the reason of your child’s absence this will be recorded as an ‘unauthorised’ absence on their record.

If your child’s absence falls below 90% then a referral will be made to the Education Welfare Officer.

Please note: Parents are asked to make all health appointments outside of school hours.

Absence from school due to term time holidays.

Please collect a form from the school office if you wish to apply for a term time holiday. Only absence for exceptional circumstances will be considered. Parents choosing to take children out of school for a term time holiday may be fined.
