SEND at Langwith Bassett Primary Academy

At Langwith Bassett Primary Academy, we are committed to providing an inclusive, nurturing and ambitious learning environment where every child is valued and supported to achieve their full potential. We recognise that every learner is unique and are dedicated to ensuring that pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) receive the provision, support and opportunities they need to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

We believe that high-quality teaching, strong partnerships with families and a personalised approach to support are fundamental in helping all children succeed. Through early identification, effective intervention and collaborative working with parents, carers and external professionals, we strive to remove barriers to learning and ensure that every child can access a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum.

  • Provision is tailored to meet individual needs through a graduated approach to support.
  • Teachers remain responsible and accountable for the progress and development of every pupil in their class, including those receiving additional support.
  • Staff continually develop their knowledge and understanding of SEND and inclusive practice.
  • Barriers to learning are identified and addressed to enable pupils to access a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum.
  • Pupils with SEND are actively involved in decisions about their learning and are encouraged to share their views, wishes and aspirations.

  • We work closely with educational, health and social care professionals to secure the best possible outcomes for pupils.
  • Pupils with SEND are fully included in all aspects of school life and participate alongside their peers wherever possible.
  • Every child is treated with dignity, respect and understanding, recognising the wide range of factors that can influence learning, behaviour and wellbeing.

Working Together
