Academy Council
At Langwith Bassett, we are proud to have a highly active and enthusiastic Academy Council. The council meets regularly with Mrs Trevenna to discuss ideas, concerns and suggestions from pupils about life within the academy.
Our councillors are voted for at the beginning of each academic year and work hard to represent the views and opinions of their classmates.
Throughout the year, the Academy Council has played an important role in developing new ideas and organising fundraising events to support the school. This has included helping to organise the successful Farmer’s Market for World Book Day, raising money for new school equipment and resources.
The council also introduced our popular Peace Promise Bears. Each week, one child from every class is awarded the bear for demonstrating our school values by being kind, caring and following the school rules. The next recipient is then chosen by the previous winner, helping to promote kindness and positivity throughout the school.
In addition, the Academy Council created the Staff Member of the Week award to recognise and celebrate the dedication and hard work of staff across the academy.
Most recently, the council helped organise a successful Easter fundraising event, including a bonnet parade and an egg scene competition, which they proudly judged themselves.
Our Academy Council continues to play a valuable role in making Langwith Bassett a happy, caring and inclusive place to learn.
